About Tennessee Firearms Assocation
The Tennessee Firearms Association was initially formed in 1995 by a group of grassroots activists who were interested in addressing problems with Tennessee’s civilian handgun permit law which had been amended by the Tennessee Legislature in 1994 but which soon proved to have many, many problems in its implementation.
In short time, the Tennessee Firearms Association moved from a group of individuals and was incorporated as a Tennessee not-for-profit corporation. It has continuously maintained its status as a not-for-profit corporation in Tennessee since that time. Its focus was and remained focused on promoting the safe and responsible use and ownership of firearms in Tennessee. Included within its mission was to fill the need for an organization to monitor, work on and address legislative and legal issues pertaining to all aspects of firearms ownership in Tennessee.
The Tennessee Firearms Association, Inc., also pursued and was granted not-for-profit status from the Internal Revenue Service as a Section 501(c)(4) corporation. TFA has continuously maintained its status with the IRS as a not-for-profit corporation.
The Tennessee Firearms Association is fundamentally a grassroots organization. In the words of John F. Kennedy, the issue is not what TFA can do for you but what can you and others accomplish by working with and through TFA.
